Plot Overview:
The novel begins with the arranged marriage of Nishra and Shehroze, which is supposed to lead to a happy ending, yet it turns out to create tensions and cause pain to the feelings of the main characters. Due to his egoism and stern thinking, Shehroze is unable to accept Nishra fully. He magnifies a minor point and sends Nishra packing out of his home, which not only calls his marriage into question, but also her personal dignity.
Nishra returns to Maykay and picks a patient path without complaining. Things become hotter when Dara becomes involved. The conflict between Shehroze and Dara brings serious divisions within the two families. It is revealed to Shehroze that he has made a mistake, but his ego does not allow him to acknowledge that immediately.
Another subplot occurs at this period: Artash and Bahari (Sohane). They are cousins and very much in love yet their relationship is hampered by family rifts of the past and ego conflicts. Bahari is in a dilemma of whether to love or family, and Artash is insistent to be there at all costs.
In the novel, misconceptions, rumors and family politics disorganize all relationships in the course of time. There are characters who confess and reconcile their errors, and those who lose it all since they are hard-headed. The novel is guided towards the realization, emotional maturity, and consequences and manages to keep readers on their toes till the very end.
