Had is a very nice Urdu novel by Nimra Ahmed, immersing into family secrets, deception, and a lot of moral dilemmas. The storyline revolves around this young woman Manal who claims to be the daughter of Senator Jahangir Shah and it completely goes on to destroy his so-called ideal family. Her assertions supported by a DNA report bring a lot of strain, suspicion, and discord between the family members.
Characters:
- Manal: The young woman who claims to be the daughter of Jahangir Shah. She is smart and bold with her moves, though gradually her true intentions begin to surface.
- Senator Jahangir Shah: A well-known politician and the family leader. He is straight and suspicious, refuses to confess his wrongness and has a hard time maintaining the reputation of his family.
- Shehla: The wife of Jahangir who experiences emotional upheaval once the scandal surfaces and this is how difficult it is to trust and be loyal to your family.
- Jahangir Mother: The senior member of the family, who is shocked and becomes emotionally tensioned on Manal allegations and therefore dies tragically.
- Raza: Another shrewd family servant who orchestrates the trick, to exploit the family and have a share of the pie.
Plot Overview:
This narration begins when Manal throws a bomb: she is the bastard daughter of Senator Jahangir Shah. Her DNA evidence causes devastation in the Shah family particularly to Shehla and the elder ones.
The situation is added to by the spread of accusations, which causes the heart attack and death of the grandma. In the mess, there are minor hints that Manal is not telling the truth, she is being fooled by the servant, Raza and plays out the situation to seize the family fortune and power.
The reality comes out later revealing how manipulation and false allegations deceive people and shatter hopes and lives. The moral of the story is pushed to the end in terms of honesty, justice and the need to think before believing something.
